Economic Mission to Canada: Strategic Connections Supporting Walloon Businesses

From April 17 to 24, 2026, TWIST participated in a trade mission to Canada (Montreal and Toronto), organized by AWEX and Wallonie-Bruxelles International, attended by the Minister-Presidents of the Walloon Region and the Wallonia-Brussels Federation.
At the heart of this initiative was a clear goal: to connect Walloon companies—members of our cluster—to the most dynamic international ecosystems in the creative, digital, and innovation industries.
An introduction focused on international standards
The mission began with a meeting with the CEO of the Society of Motion Picture & Television Engineers (SMPTE), a world-leading organization that brings together more than 6,000 experts dedicated to advancing technologies in film, television, and digital media.
During this visit, TWIST engaged with several major players:
- Bell Media, a leader in the media and entertainment sector
- Solotech, a global provider of technology solutions
- Optic
This was a key highlight, marked by discussions on technological advancements and opportunities for international collaboration.
An immersion in the heart of Quebec’s creative ecosystem
In Montreal, TWIST met with key players in the sector:
- le Bureau du Cinéma et de la Télévision du Québec

These discussions highlighted shared visions, particularly regarding foresight as a strategic lever for development.

The mission continued with hands-on experiences with innovative systems:

TWIST also participated in the Horizon Europe ICC workshops, opening up concrete opportunities for collaboration at the European and international levels.

Strategic meetings to shape the future
The mission continued with high-level strategic discussions in preparation for the economic mission scheduled for October 2026, which will bring together about ten Walloon companies that are members of TWIST.

These discussions have helped identify concrete avenues for joint projects and strategic collaborations.
Heading to Toronto: A Gateway to Ontario
The mission continued in Toronto with:
- Ontario Creates
- Interactive Ontario
TWIST also participated in a luncheon conference organized by the Club Canadien, in partnership with several institutions, on the theme: “Promoting the Francophonie in the Digital Age.”
The mission concluded with a meeting with Invest Ontario to lay the groundwork for lasting collaborations, particularly through reciprocal economic missions.
