Accessibility
The development of the Web and the widespread use of the Internet now enable severely visually impaired people to access a wealth of information and services previously unavailable to them.
Contrary to what is often assumed, visually impaired and even blind people can access computers, and therefore the Internet, using either magnification software or speech synthesis and Braille display technologies.
The Walloon government has decided to attach particular importance to making its websites accessible to the visually impaired. In April 2003, it adopted a series of measures aimed at making the majority of public Web sites in the Walloon Region accessible.
The Blindsurfer label indicates that the site on which it appears is accessible to the blind and visually impaired, following a rigorous accessibility check by experts from the Oeuvre Nationale des Aveugles.
