Five months after our event together at Chateau Bayart  Éolien Offshore - Opportunités pour les entreprises wallonnes en mer du Nord, we propose you now a concrete industrial opportunity to get in Offshore projects with the major energy player from Germany : RWE.

RWE Offshore Development BENELUX launch an innovation competition within the domains of Ecology and System Integration. The innovation competition is launched in March 2023 and short proposals are to be sent before 17th April. Based on our good collaboration between FLUX50 (Flanders) and TWEED (Wallonia), we propose to our ecosystem to join this Informative websession.

Also, note that RWE is active in the Elisabeth offshore concession and currently seeking for good skills from Belgium.

Complements from RWE about the Competition

The RWE Innovation Competition is an annual competition dedicated to find solutions that contribute to the sustainable growth of our offshore wind portfolio. These solutions are found in the domains of ecology, circularity & system integration.

For ecology, we look for solutions that enhance local biodiversity at offshore wind farms. For circularity, we look at solutions that minimize waste at end of life or can increase the circularity of an offshore wind farm across the whole life cycle. For system integration we look at solutions that contribute to solving the mismatch in supply and demand in both volume and time. Also, these solutions can contribute to better predicting and/or optimizing the production of offshore wind energy.

We look for innovators (start-ups, scale-ups, research institutes & other individuals) that have a proven concept, but are looking for a big market player (such as RWE) to further test, scale & develop their solution in an operational environment.

The competition closes at the 17th of April. If your solution catches our eye, you will be invited to our pitch event on the 11th of 12th of May. After the pitch event, we will go into commercial & technical discussions to come to an agreement with the innovator.

Main incentive to join is twofold. First winners will get access to our global offshore wind portfolio to see where their solution might fit within offshore wind projects. These projects could be all around the world. If your solution fits with our general (sustainability) strategy, your solution might even be integrated for all of our wind farms in the future! On another note, we will provide the winners access to the Technical Innovation programme, which grants you access to leading experts & the opportunity to further develop, test & scale our solution in innovation projects.
