TWEED, 2 Clusters promoting sustainable transition
TWEED is focusing its coordination and leadership efforts around 2 sectoral clusters: the TWEED Cluster for the energy sector and the H2O Cluster for the water sector. These 2 key sectors are constantly looking for innovative technological and non-technological solutions, and are on the front line when it comes to the challenges of climate change.
TWEED plays a catalytic role in promoting and structuring high value-added sectors with a high potential for expertise and exports in the energy and water sectors.

TWEED, structuring high-potential ecosystems
TWEED's work in structuring sectors focuses on setting up ecosystems of players, partnerships and projects corresponding to sub-segments with high potential for the economic development of its members and the region's environmental transition.
By drawing on the know-how of its members, TWEED is positioning itself as a recognised centre of expertise and a reliable partner for players (both private and public) involved in the environmental challenges of energy and water.
The TWEED and H2O clusters offer cutting-edge expertise in energy, water, hydrogen, heating networks, CO2 and sustainable mobility infrastructures.
Ecosystems
The TWEED Cluster coordinates 3 different ecosystems, by organising thematic working groups, B2B sessions, specific calls for projects and seminars, and by coordinating and managing related project portfolios, including via the B-Wallonia online exchange and collaboration platform.
The Energy Communities, which are booming in Brussels and Wallonia, are a major lever for unlocking new renewable capacity and making the most of it on our networks. A website has been developed by TWEED to keep everyone up to date with the latest developments: www.MaCER.info. In addition, CERACLE is the platform created with the MecaTech cluster to host the twenty or so research projects working in synergy on this subject.
Hydrogen is an important vector of transition on which Europe, Belgium and Wallonia are betting for the next few years, enabling molecular storage that has other advantages over conventional electro-chemical technologies. Having carried out a number of strategic studies for the Region (hydrogen roadmap), TWEED now runs a club within the hydrogen cluster, H2Hub Wallonia, part of which is also present on the B-wallonia platform.
Renewable heat networks are an important vector for heating our buildings and meeting the needs of our industries. TWEED is proposing the Heat2Net Wallonia alliance to prepare the sector for the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead, linked to the underground capture, production and distribution of renewable heat. |
