Thematic evening "Welfare of Sport Horses"

Sanglier des Ardennes, Durbuy, Belgium - On 6 April 2023 - EquisFair, the Walloon Equestrian Cluster, organised a thematic evening entitled "Welfare of Sport Horses" at the Sanglier des Ardennes in Durbuy, Belgium. This evening brought together 140 people interested in the issue of animal welfare in equestrian sports.
During this evening, moderated and hosted by In The Air, several renowned specialists took the floor to discuss the importance of horse welfare in equestrian sports. Charles Trolliet, President of the Swiss Horse Council and Observatory, spoke about ethics and welfare. Anne Thiry spoke about the link between welfare and pedagogy. Lucile Sachot, representing the French label EQUURES, presented the means to provide for the basic needs of horses. Finally, Prof. Didier Serteyn from the University of Liège presented methods for preventing accidents in sport horses.
After these presentations, the participants had the opportunity to discuss the topics discussed around a quality buffet prepared by chef Wout Bru. This evening was also an opportunity for the Walloon Equestrian Cluster to announce a new project with a national and international vocation : the Durbuy International Equestrian Business Club.
The event aroused great interest from the participants, underlining the importance of animal welfare in equestrian sports. The Cluster Equestre Wallon welcomes this successful evening and will continue to promote the welfare of horses in equestrian sport.
