In conjunction with the European Cleantech Internationalization Initiative (EC2I), members of TWEED are cordially invited to take part in a matchmaking mission to Nanjing in China, which is organised in conjunction with the CleanConnect Conference and the Next-Gen Energy & Industry Innovation Summit in Nanjing on 15-16 November 2018.

B2B Meetings: what can you expect ?

The objective is to match Belgian and other European companies with Chinese partners to export European cleantech technology to the Chinese market.

Special focus will be on:

  • Energy, power and mobility (knowledge exchange and innovation showcases)
  • Monitoring and Smart Solutions (smart hardware, data processing and artificial intelligence)
  • VOCs Treatment (ultra-low emission)
  • Soil & Groundwater Remediation (ecosystem restoration)
  • Waste to Value (waste collection, transportation and recycling, waste utilization)
  • Industrial Wastewater (wastewater treatment, zero discharge & circular solution)

The EC2i matchmaking mission is a great opportunity for European cleantech SMEs to take part in tailor-made B2B meetings with Chinese companies and networking events, as well as a visit to the CleanConnect Conference in Nanjing. Based on your needs and preferences, we will facilitate tailor-mademeetings with relevant partners and Chinese investors. You will also be part of a European EC2i initiative, which includes networking with other European technology providers and a clear follow-up process.

China is one of the world's largest market for cleantech. Due to rapid industrialization and urbanization, China has experienced environmental degradation. In response, the Chinese government has implemented policies to accelerate the deployment of environmental technologies in fields ranging from water treatment, clean energy, and air pollution to soil remediation. Because of this policy push, the Chinese cleantech market will reach EUR2.28 trillion by 2020.

Strategic Partners: who do we work with?

UmorePrior to the outgoing mission to Nanjing, the EC2i partners worked towards securing strong partnerships with Chinese stakeholders. To this end, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed with UMore.

The areas of collaboration between the two organizations are the following:

  • Gather market intelligence
  • Give a first feedback to European SMEs on the relevancy of their participation to the event
  • Mobilize potential buyers and other stakeholders to participate in matchmaking events

CLEANCONNECT CONFERENCE & Next-Gen Energy and Industry Innovation Summit

The CleanConnect Conference is an annual event focusing on international cooperation for global cleantech companies and organizations. By offering exclusive, prearranged matchmaking with potential partners and investors, CleanConnect offers a good opportunity to match solution providers with buyers.

In 2017, more than 232 matchmaking meetings took place, with an average of 20 business meetings for the overseas companies during the two-day conference.

CleantechGroupDuring this year's CleanConnect (November 15-16 2018), Cleantech Group will independently run a Next-Gen Energy & Industry Innovation Summit.

"Founded in 2002, the mission of Cleantech Group (CTG) is to accelerate sustainable innovation. Our subscriptions, events and programs are all designed to help corporates, investors, and all players in the innovation ecosystem discover and connect with the key companies, trends, and people in the market. Our coverage is global, spans the entire clean technology theme and is relevant to the future of all industries. The company is headquartered in San Francisco."

The focus of the Next-Gen Energy and Industry Innovation Summit's program will be a knowledge exchange on:

  • What is happening in China, what are key innovation and investment trends, and the opposite (what is happening outside) ? With a particular focus on energy, power and mobility, and with a particular (though not exclusive) focus on data and digital technologies.
  • What are the opportunities for in-bound, non-Chinese companies with innovative solutions appropriate to China ?
  • What are the success stories and what can be learned from the less successful in terms of scaling a business in China ?

Considerable time within the program will be given to showcasing innovation companies:

  • Chinese companies who are great examples of domestic innovation the world should be aware of, given their ambitions to go global.
  • Foreign companies, recruited from the global innovation call (see Speakers page for more information), who believe they have strong market potential in China.

What would be the best time for me to apply for a visa before my planned departure for China?

It is advisable that you apply for a visa one month before your intended date of entry into China but not earlier than three months. The Chinese visa is typically valid for three months. If you apply for a visa too early, the visa may expire before your departure. For instance, if you plan to enter China on July 1, the best time to submit your application would be around June 1 (counting working days only).

Please note that the validity of some visas is equal to or shorter than one month. In that case, you may apply for the visa around two weeks before your intended date of entry into China.
