The CLUSTER PHOTONIQUE was created in 2008 at PromOptica's initiative, the Belgium association for the promotion of optics. It gathers industrial enterprises as well as research and training centers, all involved in PHOTONICS, a very high potential sector.

The science of PHOTONICS is based on and concerned with the controlled flow of photons, or light particles. Photonics systems enable to generate, conduct, detect and treat light. Applications of photonics are extremely vaste, actively integrated in our daily life, et strongly contribute to the development of various sectors: transports, lighting, environment, health, telecom, defence, IT, materials, instrumentations, measurement and control technology, multimédia...
