FUNDP - NARILIS

General presentation

I'm the director of a new research center : NAmur Research Institute in LIfe Science (NARILIS). This institute, intitated by the hospital Mont-Godinne and the University of Namur is willing to develop research in life sciences at the same time fundamental and applied, inter alia, with the clinical practice while answering the population stakes. NARILIS preferentially develops its research around the following axes and sets of themes, organised from the microscopic to the macroscopic ones: « Bioethics and health promotion »: This is a place for addressing ethical questions related to the basic research, to the use of the sciences and technologies in the Society or to the clinical practice. Also included the evaluation of the quality of the medical care, of the relieve of pain, of the needs for handicapped patients and or the promotion health campaigns. « Biomedical sciences »: Better understand how the human organism develops and functions under physiological and pathological conditions, as well as to develop new therapeutic and diagnostic approaches. Furthermore, interdisciplinary projects leads to integrative research from the molecule to the whole organism. « Evolution and mathematical modelling »: Research of interdisciplinary programs (biology, medicine, mathematics, data processing) relative to biological systems, by the development and the implementation of modelling methods, analysis, experimentation and simulation. « Responses to stresses/stimuli (biotic et abiotic) »: Changes in the environment often oblige cells or organisms to set up an adaptive response. We study the reactions of living at the cellular level, the level of organisms and even at the clinical level.
